With musicians on both sides of the family down through the generations Nicky had no choice. Die was cast when amateur violinist father left the Geelong Symphony to play fiddle in square dance band in the fifties. Pointed towards guitar by a Glen Campbell obsessed share-farmer and a string of bad piano teachers Nicky took lessons from Ralph de Lucia, showband guitarist at The Crest(stripjoint) and later The Swagman(all you can eat), in the mid seventies.
Pro career start in 1984 with Melbourne country-rock outfit The King Jerklews. Nicky has stayed pretty much country ever since either as guitar/singer/songwriter in original bands or as sideman/session player hired for his pickin'. Truckasaurus with Lisa Miller; Sherry Rich; Mark Ferrie's Actual Reality; Doug Mansfield and the Dust Devils; Crane Trash; The Mooney Valley Drifters; Slim Whittle; Slowtown Social Club and many more. Has produced albums for Crane Trash and Slim Whittle. Exceptions to country rule include surf apocalypse/psychobilly Intoxica, pop/Latin Jack Howard and pop/ rock Monique Brumby.
Has made more than twenty albums even singles and TV
