Howdy folks. Hunkered down in the midst of a freezing Melbourne winter – good footy and DVD weather. After a big few months of gigs, videos and the media frenzy (OMG, the paparazzi that I have to deal with – I feel like a Kardashian), things have quietened down a bit. Well..that’s aside from recording with Paul Conroy last week, playing with Something For Kate at The Forum, recording with Burn In Hell on Sunday, then helping celebrate Jimmy Lomas’ birthday at Pure Pop on Sunday – all in a week’s work. I love my job!
Coming up, we’ve got a nice run of gigs at the end of August (see the gig page) and we’re working on some shows into September. The band’s last show at The Yarra was an absolute cracker. The band is in sizzling form and the combo of pedal steel and trumpet with effects is pretty unique and startling on the local scene.
Our beautiful video for The Lark Ascends is out and about (http://youtu.be/REs8zFsJ6Os) and getting plenty of those all-important youtube hits. God knows, they don’t pay the bills but they are a salve to the fragile musical ego.
I’ve turned the idiot box off tonight – there’s nothing worth watching (is there ever?), not even on the sports channels! I’ve been listening to the new Tracy McNeil and Joe Henry CDs instead – beautiful stuff. Do yourselves a favour…
